Song is a potent medium for processing emotion, conveying information, and sharing ideas. Now is a wonderful time to bring what you have to the artform!
This live, six-part workshop with Diane Cluck introduces skills and creative approaches to the art of songwriting. The series will include craft talks, writing prompts and group exercises in an encouraging environment. We’ll learn ways to uncover, generate, and organize song material as part of a personal songwriting practice.
Experience in songwriting, singing, or playing an instrument aren’t required. You’re most welcome with your current level of skill. Open to up to fourteen participants.
Registration includes six 90-minute group Zoom sessions + 30 minutes of individual coaching time with Diane. The workshop will be held on Saturdays from 11:30am-1pm PT/2:30-4pm ET/7:30-9pm GMT/8:30-10pm CET.
(Now full: Please email hello@dianecluck.info if you'd like to be notified about the next workshop series.) This live, online workshop with singer-songwriter Diane Cluck will help you in creating an original song for someone you’d like to honor--a beloved friend, family or community member, sweetheart, etc. Experience, or even confidence in singing, songwriting, or playing an instrument aren’t required—you're welcome with your current level of skill!
Over four sessions we’ll explore inventive approaches to songwriting and produce songs to sing by the workshop’s end. If singing is a leap for you, we’re there to sing with you. Music is an incredible gift, and you’ll finish the workshop with your own song to sing and share.

The Art of Breathing w/ Brian Festa (11:30am-1pm)
Singing & Collaborative Songmaking w/ Diane Cluck (2-5pm)
The Art of Breathing: Breathing is absolutely essential to our life, and seldom do we utilize it consciously and effectively. In this 90-minute workshop, you'll learn simple techniques for profound benefits using intentional breathing: Pranayama - gaining greater control over the breath, mind and body, and fostering a newfound awareness of every breath you take.
Singing & Collaborative Songmaking: Diane relates the joy of singing through experiential exercises focusing on personal expression and physical sensation. We'll touch on intuitive ways of singing harmony and learn how to join in on a song even when hearing it for the first time. The workshop progresses into collaborative song-making through improvisation in an encouraging environment. Tools shared are adaptable for those looking to either begin or deepen their personal singing and songwriting practice.
Open to 15 people.
Feedback from Diane's recent workshop attendees:
"All in all, I feel like a stronger singer after this. Dialing into what I admire about my voice, what I dislike about my voice, how important the voice is, and all the while not taking myself too seriously was GOLDEN." - S. in Austin, TX
"I am trying to learn more about coming back into my body, and making sound is such a natural part of that healing. I am grateful for all that you share, including your encouragement." - G. in Asheville, NC
"I've found it increasingly easier to be vulnerable with my voice and to sing aloud. This has lead me to sing more for and with friends in recent months." - J. in Providence, RI
"I really appreciated the fact that the class consisted of all varying degrees and levels of musicality. I don't think I would have gotten as much (out of it) had all been a group of professionals or novices, etc. The diversity helped to alleviate self-consciousness and also offered perspectives I would have not otherwise seen." - M. in Albuquerque, NM
