Diane Cluck + Wax Wings

Diane Cluck + Wax Wings

Sunday, March 22 @ 7:00PMSun, Mar 22 @ 7:00PM

The Bull, Gainesville, FL

An intimate evening of beautifully unguarded songwriting with Diane Cluck, joined by local favorites Wax Wings, live at The Bull. Join us for a rare, close-up listening room–style performance with Diane Cluck, one of indie folk’s most quietly influential and singular voices.

Known for her hushed, spellbinding songs and deeply personal lyricism, Cluck’s music lives in the space between confession and poetry. Her work has earned devoted praise for its emotional honesty, unconventional beauty, and the way it invites listeners into something tender, strange, and entirely her own. This is music meant to be heard in a room where every breath and nuance matters.

Opening the night is Wax Wings, a beloved local act whose textured, melodic songwriting makes them a perfect complement to the evening’s intimate atmosphere.

An Evening with Diane Cluck + Brittany Ann Tranbaugh w/ Shona Carr

Friday, March 28, 2025 @ 7:00PMFri, Mar 28, 2025 @ 7:00PM

The Front Porch, Charlottesville, VA

This is a seated show, seats are first come, first served. Doors open at 7 PM, music starts at 8 PM. The first set is a duo set with Brittany Ann Tranbaught, followed by a solo set from Diane Cluck.

Diane Cluck is a singer-songwriter who leans on classical piano training in approaching guitar, dance as an inspiration for rediscovering piano, and voice as a rhythm instrument and paintbrush. House Tears, her ninth record, was recorded with Colin Killalea at White Star Sound in Louisa, VA and released this year. “Bell-clear and hotly austere, her lithe, dynamic voice hasn’t much kin. Categorizing her as folk is simplistic. (Cluck) emanates something humble but mythic. Appalachia or ancient Athens?” – Time Out New York

Brittany Ann Tranbaugh (pronounced TRAN-baw) is a Philadelphia-based songwriter whose queer Americana heartbreaker “Kiss You” won Song of the Year in the 2021 John Lennon Songwriting Contest. Tranbaugh has been writing songs and playing shows as a side gig since she was a teenager, but in February 2023, at 31 years old, she finally quit her office job to pursue a full-time career in music. Her newest release is a self-titled EP produced by Grammy-winner Tyler Chester which showcases Tranbaugh in her new era: energetic, self-assured, surrounded by her beloved musical community, and more commanding as a vocalist and writer than ever before.

Shona Carr grew up in up state New York where she attended old time and folk festivals with her family. She moved to Virginia after attending Berklee College of Music and played in multiple projects, most notably the all woman folk quartet “The Buck Stops Here” as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. She played all throughout the southeastern United States at festivals such as Merle Fest, Fresh Grass, and Philadelphia Folk Fest. She currently plays in Brittany Ann Tranbaugh’s band, runs a festival in Philly called “Sweet Juice Fest” and is set to launch her solo project in 2025 with an EP.

Song is a potent medium for processing emotion, conveying information, and sharing ideas. Now is a wonderful time to bring what you have to the art form! This live, twelve-part workshop with Diane Cluck introduces skills and creative approaches to the art of songwriting. The series will include craft talks, writing prompts and group exercises in an encouraging environment. We’ll learn ways to uncover, generate, and organize song material as part of a personal songwriting practice.

You’re most welcome with your current level of skill. Past workshops have included those who are new to songwriting, those returning after a hiatus, and experienced songwriters looking to refresh their approach. These mixed-level groups have shown to be beneficial. Previous experience in singing, songwriting, or playing an instrument isn’t required.

Weekly topics include building a personal practice, vocal warm-ups and exploration, song structure, lyrical content, phrasing, accompaniment, creative approaches to harmony & melody, quick-write exercises, song shares, and giving and receiving supportive feedback. We’ll also touch on songwriting-adjacent topics such as the basics of home recording.

Diane’s personal practice and approach to facilitation also includes focus on the energetics involved in making music. Singing and songwriting are powerful and can initiate significant personal and interpersonal change over time. In workshop we give time to discussing personal obstacles and breakthroughs, as well as how to stay engaged and find and cultivate musical community.

///

In advance of registering, please consider your availability over the 12-week timeframe, as group cohesion and inspiration flourish with regular attendance and participation. Cancellation requests are accepted through January 4th, a week before the workshop begins, for a full refund minus $30 credit card processing fees. For cancellation requests after January 4th, partial to full refunds are dependent on Diane's ability to fill your space. Giving as much notice as possible will be appreciated.

Katy Pinke + Kyp Malone + Diane Cluck

Saturday, July 20, 2024 @ 7:00PMSat, Jul 20, 2024 @ 7:00PM

Francis Kite Club, New York, NY

Doors 7pm, Show 8pm

Very simple, not so fancy. Katy, Kyp, and Diane build musical worlds using basic tools. Howls and words spun and heard. Come be around!

Katy Pinke is a New York based singer-songwriter, actor, and artist. Her songs are self-examinations — cerebral and unsparing, but reaching toward a more promising future. On her self-titled debut album Pinke mixes the precise and wry delivery of The Roches and Connie Converse with the idiosyncratic song forms of Bill Callahan. Pinke’s work exudes a direct and inviting quality, while a closer listen to her lyrics reveals a quiet battle being waged — an ongoing struggle to unconditionally love a fragmented self.

Kyp Malone is a musician and artist based in Brooklyn, NYC. He wrote and performed with the musical groups TV on the Radio and Iran. Malone currently plays with the musical groups Ice Balloons, Bent Arcana and performs solo as Kyp Malone’s RainMachine employing elements of improvisation, folk, and electronic music.

Diane Cluck is a singer-songwriter who leans on classical piano training in her approach to guitar, dance as an inspiration for rediscovering piano, and voice as a rhythm instrument and paintbrush. She's currently at work on her ninth record, House Tears, for release in 2024. “Bell-clear and hotly austere, her lithe, dynamic voice hasn’t much kin. Categorizing her as folk is simplistic. Nova Arts, 48 Emerald Street, Keene, NH

Doors open at 7pm and music will begin at 730. Simon Gray plays in between Diane & Mariee. All ages, seating is limited and first come first served.

Mariee Siou has been a fixture in the Neo-folk scene since her 2007 debut "Faces in the Rocks"—now acclaimed as a cult classic in the indie music world. She is revered for her delicate finger picking and poetic mysticism, often drawing, as from the ether, immense feeling through a voice of soft potency and otherworldly wordsmithing. She is known as a healing singer and as being a visionary artist, channeling and transmitting medicinal qualities through her music. Mariee Siou has extensively toured Europe and the US, and opened for acclaimed artists like Mazzy Star, Buffy St. Marie, Bert Jansch, Brightblack Morning Light, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, and Joanna Newsom. In 2021 she played Le Guess Who? In Utrecht, Netherlands, at the invitation of Phil Elverum of The Microphones/Mt. Eerie, and she continues to tour the US and Europe.

Diane Cluck is a singer-songwriter who leans on classical piano training in approaching guitar, dance as an inspiration for rediscovering piano, and voice as a rhythm instrument and paintbrush. She's currently at work on her ninth record, House Tears, for release in 2023. “Bell-clear and hotly austere, her lithe, dynamic voice hasn’t much kin. Categorizing her as folk is simplistic. Simon Gray is a multi-instrumentalist who got his start busking on the streets of Las Vegas. Over the years, he has played for passersby from Cadiz to San Miguel, New Orleans to Jaffa, Auckland to Kalalau. He was a founding member of Olympia, WA stoner-metal trio Skeeter, Oakland, CA artist collective The Fungal Jungle Big Band, Jawbone Flats, OR reggae ensemble The Six Percenters, as well as Keene, NH area bands Blue Motel, Princess Kikou, and The Ghost of Route 10. Simon also produced the score for several film projects, including indie-horror flick "The Production", documentaries "Davers" and "Dreams of White Mountain", and the microseries "Chronicles of Harambe".
