This month I look forward to taking part in some wonderful events in the Northeast, starting with a Labor Day concert close to home:
9/5 Charlottesville, VA: Labor Day Evening w/ Little Mazarn @ Redbud Creek Sanctuary, 6-8:30pm (bring a picnic!) / tickets
9/10 Wrightsville, PA: Harvest Moon Womxn of Folk Festival @ Moon Dancer Winery, 11am-9pm. Eclectic day-long festival featuring live music, craft vendors, yoga, and community clothing swap. Diane's set 6-7pm followed by The Wild Hymns 7-8pm. $15 advance, $20 day-of, kids under 12 free / tickets
9/12 Philadelphia, PA: w/ Shaina Kapeluck @ 2223 Fish, 8-10pm, mask & vax card required / FB event / tickets (or by-donation at the door)
9/15 Brooklyn, NY: The Dance Cartel: 10 Years ONTHEFLOOR (Diane makes a guest appearance for one song) / tickets
9/16 Ridgewood/Queens, NY: w/ Miriam Elhajli-Rodriguez + Santiago Venegas Duque @ Trans Pecos, 7pm doors, 7:30-9:30 concert, masks appreciated & offered by venue / FB event / tickets
*9/17: (I'd love to play in MA on this date--Northampton area, possibly? Please reach out if you're able to host a yard/garden/house concert. I travel with all of the equipment needed for a small show, sound & lights!)
9/20 Peaks Island, ME: w/ Dead Gowns + EDT @ Greenwood Garden (if it rains we'll move indoors to the theater), 6pm / $10-20 suggested, all are welcome, no one turned away
9/22 Peaks Island, ME: Workshop: The Playful Process of Song Making @ Greenwood Garden Playhouse, 6:30-8:30pm, by donation / please RSVP
9/23 Poughkeepsie, NY: The Mug at Vassar College, open to the public, by-donation, benefits Doctors Without Borders (check website for finalized event details)

From September 19th-23rd I'm excited to participate in an artist-in-residency program on Peaks Island, ME. This island in the Casco Bay, part of the City of Portland, has a year-round population of ~1,000 residents. I'll be giving a concert, workshop, and some one-on-one lessons there. With the support of a residency stipend we're able to offer these community events for free or by donation. I look forward to exploring Peaks Island's shorelines and inland features, and to hangin' with the islanders (+ those who come to visit)!
Determining safety protocols for live events and who will take responsibility for these continues to be challenging. I'm glad that amongst these offerings there are several outdoor concerts, and I'll be doing my best to travel safely. I hope that if you're in the northeast and are interested in attending a show, that there's one here that will meet you at your comfort level.

Tomorrow I look forward to meeting a new group of songwriters for a 12-Week Songwriting Workshop! These workshops have been a delight to host and while this one is full, the next one begins in January 2023 with ten spaces yet available. Info & registration >>
Thank you for reading my late summer / nearly autumn update. Here the sun is setting and cicadas are still shimmering at high volume. But their song feels different, just as the light slants in differently now, a nourishing amber with deepening shadow.
In the banner photo above, the little stalks with teensy purple flowers on the left are tulsi, holy basil. Sasha & Sean gifted me with seeds from their garden in Ithaca, NY when I last toured there in 2019. I planted them this spring and they've done well. I'm enjoying a cup of tulsi tea as I type to you this evening.
