Feb. 2015 East Coast Tour: Jeffrey Lewis & Diane Cluck

I look forward to touring the east coast this February with fantastic songwriter/artist Jeffrey Lewis. We’ll be playing a solo-acoustic double bill–see tour dates here.

The River“, “Travel Light“, “Finish Line” is a three-song EP Jeff & I wrote in his shack in Maine back in 2001, recorded at the infamous Balloon Heaven by Spencer Chakedis in NYC. Antifolk heyday. Preview and purchase here:

“Boneset” Included in “Standout Singer-Songwriter Albums of 2014″ List

Thanks to Julian Booker of WXPN’s The Key in Philadelphia for including my album “Boneset” in his “Standout Singer-Songwriter Albums of 2014″:

“…in a year that saw excellent new releases from folk-tinged pioneers Linda Perhacs and Vashti Bunyan, it is best to consider Cluck in company with this class of artists who can’t be categorized–a solitary songwriter completely in control of her artistic destiny.”

I’m in good company with Dawn Landes, Mirel Wagner, Marissa Nadler and Leyla McCalla.

Original Drawings from Diane: Gift Idea

Around the edges of my days, I like to draw. I accept commissions for small pieces of original art; they make sweetly powerful personalized gifts. I enjoy creating a drawing based on someone’s idea, feeling, or intention. Please inquire about specifics, cost, etc. if interested.

My most recent commission was “Seeds of Autumn” (7″ x 7″, acorn person w/ red energy spiral, framed with bamboo from my backyard) pictured below:

“Grandma Say”, New Release for Song-of-the-Week Project

gmasayThis week I released a new recording of “Grandma Say” to Song-of-the-Week subscribers.

Listen to preview of “Grandma Say”, read how the insanity of multi-tasking inspired the song, find lyrics, hear my grandmother’s advice for eating and storing peaches…

This is the 13th song to be released through the project, which will run for a duration of 24 songs. More info about Song-of-the-Week, how to subscribe, etc→

September 2014 Solo Tour: Northeast US + Canada

Tour begins in Charlottesville, Virginia. Heading north I’ll visit familiar regions and many new-to-me venues in Pennsylvania, New York State, Canada, and New England.

My tour/travel mate Ken’s Last Ever will be opening several shows, weaving his amazing live, improvised sound collage. I look forward to meeting local musicians and playing with special guests along the way, such as Otto Hauser, joining me on drums in Hudson.

Please investigate our tour route (see below) and come out for a show if you fancy! This may be my last tour for a good while as I focus on finishing my Song-of-the-Week project and other areas of interest & study.

Tour Decompression… Upcoming Plans

Reintegrating at home after longest tour ever. Sending thanks to Sebastian at Paper & Iron Booking, and to my traveling companions–cellist Isabel Castellvi, tour manager Marine Cama, and west-coast tour-mate Sondra Sun-Odeon.

Travels were beautiful, stretching, I learned a lot. People gave generously, supporting us and the music we make in ways that inspired me every day–local lore, personal stories, homecooked food, comfy beds. Thank you thank you thank you!

Photo below: me with Marine and Isabel in an olive grove in Spain. (I picked a buncha leaves to brew for tea.)

I’ll be resting a bit, returning to my Song-of-the-Week project, and planning tour dates of the Northeastern US & Canada for September (see here).
